Ohio Secretary of State confirms 2004 election could have been stolen by Bob Fitrakis & Harvey Wasserman
December 14, 2007

Ohio's Secretary of State announced this morning that a $1.9 million official study shows that "critical security failures" are embedded throughout the voting systems in the state that decided the 2004 election. Those failures, she says, "could impact the integrity of elections in the Buckeye State." They have rendered Ohio's vote counts "vulnerable" to manipulation and theft by "fairly simple techniques." read

Plan to Use Paper Ballots Is Reversed in Colorado more

New York Times

DENVER — A plan to use only paper ballots in Colorado in this November’s election, which was announced with bipartisan hoopla in January to replace the state’s troubled electronic voting machine system, died quietly in a state legislature committee room on Thursday.

Opponents of the plan said it was no longer needed, because what was broken then is now fixed. But supporters said that questions of reliability and security of the electronic voting and vote-counting machines remained unresolved, and could yet resurface before November.

The debate exploded in December, when Colorado’s secretary of state, Mike Coffman, a Republican, announced that voting machines used all over the state, including in many of the most populous counties, had failed tests by his office.

Vote Rescue

Austin-based election integrity group VoteRescue executed a highly successful Citizen Exit Poll in Travis and Williamson Counties on Tuesday in order to monitor the "official" results tallied by secret vote counting on electronic voting machines, both the screen-types and the ballot scanners. From Rense:

Texas Voting A JOKE!

Ron Paul's congressional race (in Texas) was won with 70% of the vote (37,220 votes).
However, his presidential race only garnered 6,697 votes.

That means that only 1 in 5 of the people who supported him for the house seat, voted for him for President.

Say what you will, make the excuses that you want. But this makes absolutely no sense.

If this happened to Hillary or Obama, we'd be calling for a recount.

OHIO PRIMARY SAFEGUARDS ABANDONED
In another area, Brunner joins former Ohio Republican Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell in disabling an important safeguard: the posting of results at the polling place before memory cards are transported (also called cartridges, PEBs, what have you, these are electronic ballot boxes). In the Ohio locations that still electronically count ballots at the polling place, the posting of this results tape BEFORE information enters the risky transportation phase offers citizens a means to check whether the "central tabulation" (combined precinct totals) matches the precinct results before vote data was transported. It also provides a check and balance against substitution of memory cards, cartridges, PEBs. But Brunner has joined the straight-up bad decision of Blackwell by deciding there will be no posting of precinct results at the polling place.
